The CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support aims to build upon existing skills and knowledge students would already hold, delivering core skills and knowledge in providing specialised care to the elderly. The certificate reflects the role of support workers who complete specialised tasks in the aged care sector, including residential, home or community environments.

Workers will take responsibility for their outputs within defined organisation guidelines and maintain quality service delivery through the development, facilitation and review of individualised service planning and delivery.

At the Certificate IV level, workers are required to demonstrate leadership and have limited responsibility for the organisation and the quantity and quality of outputs.

Your training will focus on:

  • Facilitating the interests and rights of clients
  • Co-ordinating services for older people
  • Facilitating the empowerment of older people
  • How to provide support to people living with dementia
  • Supporting relationships with carers and families
  • How to deliver care services using a palliative approach
  • How to manage legal and ethical compliance

The course includes a 120-hour work placement element where you will work at a registered facility to gain real-time work experience skills.
